What did the pandemic has taught me?

We thought this pandemic will only last for a month but now we are on the last quarter of the year. Experts are saying that vaccines will not be ready until mid-2021. That we are not expecting any major changes and we will not go back to pre-Covid19 life.

While people are complaining, whining and just very anxious due to all the uncertainties. I hear some say, “2020 is the worst year and can’t wait for it to be over”, 2020 just brought bad things so far”. It is very difficult to stay positive when you are hearing and experiencing it. However, after a long period of lock downs and quarantines. I just grew tired of all the negativity, the imposed changes, and the worry of what the future will be like.

I still want to be hopeful and embrace whatever this pandemic has brought upon me. I seek for what good it has given, yes, it has thrown most us off the rail, normal things we used to know and do are not possible anymore. 2020 made me so uncomfortable as a lot of the things I used to know or do just automatically no longer work.

If I linger on negativity and fear, it will just defeat me. Instead of staying that way, I told myself I must make a shift on my mindset before I get consumed by it. Sometimes opportunity comes and appear in a different form, and from a different direction than we expect. This is one of the tricks of opportunity. It often comes disguised in the form of misfortune, or temporary defeat. Perhaps, therefore so many fails to recognise opportunity.

What I have learned is to embrace and look beyond the situation. I was given an opportunity in disguise, and I am so glad that I have recognised it. Finally, I had the time to use my skills, create something on my own and the ability to learn new things. Perhaps, embracing the situation rather than fighting it. Try to see things in a different perspective, that this has placed a lot of constraint on what we used to do. Look at those constraints as the things that can facilitate our progress, and not as impediment.

Life is never easy regardless of whatever status you are in. Even after the pandemic, it will be good to have an attitude of not being complacent with the norms rather be comfortable with all the changes. Take it and embrace it with a very positive outlook. Master positive attitudes. We only often see someone else’s on the other side of the fence. Maybe that is the only technique we need to learn; view our own lives from a different perspective.
